September 2024

In August 2024 we proudly opened a permanent space with Dover Street Market in Ginza, one of Tokyo’s top shopping districts. Ginza itself is famous for its luxury shopping, but also packed with hidden gems and charming side streets that offer a quite and intimate atmosphere. This is a small guide to some of my favorite places in and around Ginza, also tapping into nearby areas like Marunouchi and Asakusa.

Coffee

I love finding hidden coffee gems in Ginza. While there are plenty of upscale options, I tend to favor places with a relaxed, unpretentious vibe where I can enjoy a good cup of coffee in peace.

GLITCH COFFEE AND ROASTERS

A cozy spot with a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for sitting down and savoring a well-brewed cup of coffee. The roasts are excellent, making it a go-to for a quiet moment.

BONGEN COFFEE

Nearby and ideal for grabbing a great coffee on the go. Their take-away service is on point, and the quality of the brew never disappoints.

BLUE BOTTLE CAFE

Located in and around Ginza, Blue Bottle offers a solid cold brew or iced coffee, perfect for when you're in the mood for something chilled. It's the best option if you prefer a known brand with consistent quality.

Shopping

In Ginza, you’ll find all the luxury brands you can imagine, housed in flagship stores or elegant department stores like Ginza Six and Hankyu. However, I enjoy mixing luxury with more eclectic finds.

DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA

This is my favorite spot for clothing as it carries an amazing selection of brands that suits my personal style. The layout and atmosphere make it a shopping destination on its own. Its an inspiring must-see, and you can enjoy the Tom Wood experience on the 5th floor.

MUJI

If you’re looking for practical and fun souvenirs, Muji is the perfect stop. Their minimalist designs and useful products make for great gifts or travel keepsakes.

Food/Drinks

When it comes to dining in Ginza, I prefer places that offer high-quality dishes with a casual, welcoming atmosphere. Whether it’s Japanese ramen or international fusion, there’s always something special to discover.

HASHIGO GINZA HON-TEN

For lunch, I would definitely recommend sitting at the bar here. Their spicy "hako" ramen is rich and flavorful, and the dumplings make the perfect side dish for a satisfying meal.

GINZA BASIRON

If you’re in the mood for a classic Japanese curry, this place serves it just right. Their crispy pork and finely shaved cabbage make for a hearty, traditional meal.

ROSE BAKERY AT DSMG

A great option for a light lunch or breakfast, Rose Bakery offers everything from fresh pastries to wholesome salads. It’s a perfect stop when you want something simple but delicious.

BILLS GINZA

For a taste of Australia in Tokyo, Bills is my go-to. Their fluffy pancakes and avocado sandwiches are excellent, especially if you’re craving a substantial breakfast.

ITALIAN & ORGANIC WINE BAR SOYA

When I’m in the mood for something social, this cozy Italian spot is my choice. They serve family-style dishes that are perfect for sharing, paired with organic wines that add a unique touch to the dining experience.

BEER LUPULIN

If you're looking for a more casual vibe, Beer Lupulin is a fantastic option. They serve small plates that are ideal for sharing, and their famous shaved ice is the perfect treat on a hot day. This spot holds a special place for me, as we celebrated the opening of our shop-in-shop at DSMG here on August 2nd.
