Adam Katz Sinding is an American photographer based in Copenhagen, known for his striking portraits and work in fashion and sports. Who is Adam Katz Sinding?

I am an American photographer living in Copenhagen since 2016. I photograph people around the world, working primarily with portraiture, but also in the fashion and sports realms. When I'm not with my camera, I am running, cycling, or napping. I love broccoli and (good) hummus.

You are an American that chose to live in Copenhagen, how did that come about?

I first visited Copenhagen in November of 2010 while on a trip to five European cities. My experience in the few days I visited was beyond any expectations, and I began to return whenever possible. Eventually I was able to move here, and ideally will stay here forever.

Highlight of your career?

That would be tough to pin-point. Many amazing opportunities have come about in the 17 years since I started doing this. In the early days of the genre of Street Style, I worked with some of the biggest and best publications. I have since worked with some of the most known fashion brands in the world as well, which has been really amazing. And of COURSE the campaign we just shot for Tom Wood in Copenhagen.

What is your passion in life?

Sports and the outdoors. I like to be outside. I do not do it enough, and I think if I had the ability to just be in the mountains every day, I would be so happy

When are you the most creative?

I actually do not consider myself to be creative at all. I often just document. But I would say, that if there is a spectrum, my most creative times should be when I am not working, and when I have time to sit on my couch and not be running to shows in Paris or other places.

Do you take any sustainable choices in your daily life?

Living in Copenhagen I go everywhere by bicycle. I have not owned a car since 2007. Sadly most bikes are made outside of Europe and must be shipped, but it's better than owning a car, I would assume. I do, however, order too much stuff online, which hurts my footprint.

What is on your bucket list?

Summit Mount Rainier, visit Svalbard, Greenland, Patagonia, and Antarctica. Cycle in the Faroe Islands. Ride my bike across the USA, and from Alaska to Mexico.

Mornings or night time?

Night.

Anything you are kind of snobby about?

Bikes!!!

Best bike ride?

The ride I did across my home state of Washington last summer was insane. 600km of gravel in 38 degrees. 3 days. No trees for shade, no potable water sources for hundreds of kilometers. I saw no more than 5 people on the path after I crossed over the Cascade Mountains. It was wild and scary.

Where would you take us to Copenhagen?

I love La Banchina. The staff has become a bit elitist since back when they first opened, but i still really love the setting. I love the beach at Klampenborg, designed by Arne Jacobsen.
